Overview: Café Choice Challenge is a strategic card game that educates players about the choices between healthy and unhealthy coffee beverages. Set in Mush Café Street, players take on the role of café owners aiming to attract customers by offering the most appealing and beneficial coffee options.

Objective: The goal is to earn the most points by serving customers with healthy coffee choices while avoiding the pitfalls of unhealthy options.

Game Components:

  • Healthy Coffee Cards: These cards represent coffee beverages that promote well-being, such as organic, low-sugar, and nutrient-rich options.
  • Unhealthy Coffee Cards: These cards depict less desirable coffee choices, such as sugary, high-caffeine, or artificially flavored drinks.
  • Customer Cards: Each customer card specifies preferences and health goals, influencing their choice of coffee and determining the points players can earn.
  • Action Cards: These cards allow players to take strategic actions, such as promoting a healthy coffee option, influencing customer decisions, or sabotaging competitors’ cafes.

Rules

Gameplay:

Setup: Shuffle the Healthy and Unhealthy Coffee Cards separately. Deal a set number of Customer Cards to each player, which indicate their coffee preferences and health goals.

  • Turn Sequence:

    • Draw Phase: Players draw cards from the Healthy or Unhealthy Coffee Card deck.
    • Action Phase: Players can play Action Cards to influence the game, such as promoting healthy coffee or affecting competitors’ cafes.
    • Serve Phase: Players choose a Customer Card to serve coffee to, selecting a Healthy or Unhealthy Coffee Card from their hand that matches the customer’s preferences.
    • Scoring Phase: Points are awarded based on how well the chosen coffee matches the customer’s preferences. Healthy coffee choices score more points, while unhealthy choices score fewer or even penalize players.

Strategy

Strategy:

    • Players must balance between stocking their cafes with appealing coffee choices and strategically using Action Cards to gain an advantage.
    • Anticipate opponents’ moves and adjust strategies accordingly to maintain a competitive edge.
    • Consider the long-term consequences of serving unhealthy coffee choices, as they may lead to negative outcomes in subsequent rounds.

Gameplay

End of Game:

      • The game ends after a set number of rounds or when a player reaches a predetermined point threshold.
      • The player with the highest accumulated points from serving customers with appropriate coffee choices (based on their preferences) wins the game.
